THE CUYABENO NATIONAL PARK
THE MANATEE TOUR
(5 day-4 night)

DAY I

Quito-Rainforest; EQ 201, 10:30 (aproximately), 30 minute flight.
Transfer to Amazon Jungle Resort Village.
Arrival Amazon Jungle Resort Village. Welcome drink and lunch.
Afternoon walk through the Resort's private ecological reserve; unique flora and fauna (birds, insects, etc.)

DAY 2

Early morning departure to the Cuyabeno Reserve. Arrival at I I:OO a.m., approximately.
Canoe navigation down the river (2 hours) box lunch.
Base camp set up at the banks of the Cuyabeno lakes.
Three hours trek observing the exuberant flora and fauna through the rain forest. Dinner. Lodging in tents or huts.
Night expedition to observe alligators, agoutis, pacas, piranhas, etc.

DAY 3

Early birdwatching. The Cuyabeno National Park is a sanctuary for birds; over 380 species have been recorded up to the present.
Navigation through lakes In search of dolphins, manatees and piache (a fish dating back to pre-historic times); Laguna Grande. Box lunch.
Three hours trip up the Cuyabeno river to return to the Amazon Jungle Resort Village. Arrival 7:00 pm. approximately.

DAY 4

Canoe expedition-Pisuri River; a wonderful small jungle river.
Walk through the jungle to observe, study and photograph wildlife species and enjoy the exuberant vegetation. Box lunch.
Visit to Cofan Indigenous community and the Curaca.
Return to the Amazon Jungle Resort village.

DAY 5

Early birdwatching.
Departure from Rainforest.
Board EQ 202 flight to Quito.

Prices include full room and board at the exclusive Amazon Jungle Resort Village, transfers, canoe expeditions and bilingual naturalist guides.
